First woman doctor of medicine in modern times, Dr. Blackwell requests that the Indian Association secretary please address all mail to her with the title of Dr. -- not Miss or Mrs.. She says "it is absolutely necessary to accustom the public, to use the word Doctor in connexion with a woman's name."
